9 August 9th of AugustI found that today is a special day for many people.
For my best friend in Kobe, it is his birthday.
Wish him a special year of 22nd.
Isn't it great you can be happy
just because it's your friend's birthday?
cannot help shouting HAPPY BIRTHDAY here! : )
For us Japanese people, it is the day when
an atomic bomb was employed in Nagasaki in 1945.
Apart from nationality, politics, economics, military stuff etc etc,
I just feel very sad about what happened to those two cities:
Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I went both of two places and heard stories
when I was junior high. I was shocked and felt a lot.
But now I cannot remember how I felt at all.
just 10 years since that trip.
I already forgot what I felt.
Time does a lot.
60 years since 1945.
For Singaporeans, it is their 40th National Anniversary!
I have been amazed by Singaporean friends
who love their country so much,
both when they are at home and when they are away.
I wonder how different they feel about their nation
from the way I do about Japan.
I may be taking it for granted that we have one country
with land, culture, history and people who love their country.
Maybe I should think of its meaning, again.
Happy Birthday Singapore!
forgot to try 'this' when i visited Singapore....
